- its also called Thorny tailed Griffin 

They are the second biggest Griffin. The biggest is Genesis griff(mountain Griffin) there is over 3 meters high.

- Only males have the spiky tail and darker 'mane'. some means that the tail is both used in battle against other males or just to show off

- common Griffin lives like lions in pride with one or two male lions there is the father(s) to all the cubs, and they hunt together.  they do live in sentient society though, but they still follow the rules of nature.

- they can be seen with other colors than brown and sand color like white, black, brown or grey. the rarest color is a spotted pattern

- griffin is one of the only creatures there can stand up to most dragon species. they are also one of the smarter creatures there aren't one of the three dominant races 

- None of the Griffin race lay eggs, but they give birth to two or three cubs when they are around 30 years old. They only stop production when they are around 190 years old

Most media portray them as egg laying monotremes but, in this world setting they give birth to live young, that is actually really unique.
